Ramadan Kareem

Posted in Quran, Quran, Ramadan on August 1, 2011 by Asma

O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqûn (the pious).[Observing Saum (fasts)] for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g. an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskîn (poor person) (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast is better for you if only you know. The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’ân, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allâh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allâh [i.e. to say Takbîr (Allâhu Akbar; Allâh is the Most Great] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.

The Holy Quran ( 2:183-185)

May Allah SubhanahuwaTa’ala shower His blessings upon us during this month and forgive our sins and keep us on the right path for the rest of our lives. Ameen.

And when it is said to them: “Make not mischief on the earth,” they say: “We are only peace-makers.” Verily! They are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive not. (2:11-12)

Why I Didn’t Want The Pakistani Team To Win

Posted in Islam, life, media on March 31, 2011 by Asma

I wished and prayed with all my heart that Pakistan should win But there was this rational side of me which didn’t want the Pakistani Team to win today. And you might be wondering why… Well the answer is easy: the whole prediction business! I mean all the energy was consumed in calling all those astronomers and fortune tellers on the TV shows and the poor parrots dying because he predicted that Pakistan will win!

All I want to say is, I read this Hadeeth in Sahih Bukhari. I don’t have the book right now with me, or else I would have given the reference. When it rained before the battle of Badr, there were Muslims amoung the lines who said that such and such star appeared at such time that is why it rained, the Prophet (SAW) said that these people have committed shirk because they believed in the movements of stars as they did not say that it is Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala who sends down rain from the skies.

Many people would say that we don’t believe in such things but what is the harm in listening to all this or reading zodiac signs and stuff. The thing is when people get desperate and they cannot see a possible solution to their problems, then they fall prey to such things as these start to give them hope instead of Faith in Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala. And not only that there are people out there who easily fall prey to such things as their eimaan is not that strong, if Pakistan would have won the match, all these people would have easily switched their eimaan and that be without even knowing that it is gone.

One other thing that was shocking to me was what I saw on the recorded programs today. One was that of Jawed Chaudhry, in which he was talking to all these fortune tellers as if they hold an important position in the whole affair. I mean I had respect for him earlier but now… The second program that was quite disturbing for a person like me was “har lamha Purjosh”. The infamous Dr. Liaqat Hussain was sitting on the same panel as that of the fortune tellers. Now this is something that one can call subliminal message being passed out on to the general public. Dr. Hussain’s presence there legitimatized the fortune telling business and the astronomy for a lot of people who have weak faith. And there is a huge viewership of Dr. Hussain, to all those people who follow him blindly, this message has been passed out onto them that it is okay to follow all these predictions, and the astronomy business. These are not mere coincidences that these programs were held and these fortune- telling- people were given so much importance in recent programs and shows.

This only shows how the media is playing with the faith and eimaan of the people. I do not watch these programs, it was a mere coincidence that my husband was watching them and I sat down to see what was happening, and this is what I was shocked to see. Many of you would say that whatever, we don’t believe it and all but there are kids, youngsters watching these programs, their minds are easy to mold, so this is alarming and shouldn’t be taken lightly!

But who am I kidding? If our media was soo responsible, it wouldn’t have promoted all the bad things in our society!

We, we call ourselves Muslims

“Watan ki fikar ker nadaan, museebat anay wali hai
Teri barbaadiyon k mashwaray hain aasmaanon mein
na samjho ge tu mit jaoge aye Pakistan* walo
Tumhari daastan bhi na hogi daastaanon mein”

The recent Davis episode made everyone’s pens moving with such fluidity that it seemed as if this was the moment everyone was waiting for to write something. My hubby said apart from all the humiliation and all, atleast we proved that Obama is a liar!

Anyway, the thing is this was the incident which could have triggered the spell of revolution in the common people, but unfortunately we are soo engrossed and busy in our little affairs that until and unless the fire wont engulf our own lives and houses, we wont even say a word. The Pakistani people would cram the streets, jam the traffic, dance on the roofs of their cars and kill people with “hawai” firing if Pakistan wins this world cup but they didn’t budge at this particular moment. They did, I’m sorry, they did make an effort and joined the virtual rallies on facebook, little do they know that clicking wont change a thing, they would need to do a little more than just that.

And then I was wondering, what’s happening around the world, the muslim world in particular. Chaos is everywhere. Little do the leaders know that only dialogue can bring some peace and change in Bahrain and not the Fauji operation. And Libya, They’d make it another Afghanistan. The UN is good for nothing organization, who trusts them? America? They all just went there to make the whole thing “legal”, but not considering the fact that when they fire missiles from the sea, it’s the common man that gets the most of the white phosphorus not the “legitimate” targets! The civilians, the women, the children all will be killed like they were brutally raped and killed in Afghanistan, and Iraq and all the Muslim World would do is just support the world on this because they can not do anything except this. This Muslim World is good for nothing because, it itself has considered America as their god and has left its people at the mercy of the West who would never accept them as human equal to them. They still think that it’s a white man’s burden to tame us into human beings from being cannibals.

Did Egypt revolution change anything for the Palestinians? Now that would be the perimeter by which we can judge how true the leadership is that has come upfront after the fall of Mr. Mubarak!

And last but not the least, I would like to talk about the army of my own country. How we used to love to sing for them and thought them soo brave. This Army can do nothing if there’s a foreign invasion. They can only fire missiles at their own innocent country men in the FATA region, the Swat region and the Waziristan region just because America thinks that there are terrorists there. Hello, what about the drones? Oh well, they are created in our country and attack our countrymen. Way to go Musharraf! Way to go Zardari! Such democracy that the common people even now have no voice and no say in anything that goes around in this country! Our army can only burn the innocent girls of jamia hafsa. And I’m sure they can only trample masajid with their boots and can do no further good!

Well done all…

Surah Wa’aqi’aa

Posted in Quran on March 18, 2011 by Asma

41. And those on the Left Hand – how (unfortunate) will be those on the Left Hand?

42. In fierce hot wind and boiling water,

43. And shadow of black smoke,

44. (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) pleasant,

45. Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury,

46. And were persisting in great sin (joining partners in worship along with Allâh, committing murder and other crimes)[2]

47. And they used to say: “When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected?

48. “And also our forefathers?”

49. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): “(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times.

50. “All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day.

51. “Then moreover, verily you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)!

52. “You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqûm.

53. “Then you will fill your bellies therewith,

54. “And drink boiling water on top of it.

55. “And you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!”

56. That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense!

57. We created you: then why do you believe not?

58. Then tell Me (about) the (human) semen that you emit.

59. Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator?

60. We have decreed death to you all, and We are not outstripped,

61. To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not.

62. And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation (i.e. the creation of Adam): why then do you not remember (or take heed)?

63. Then tell Me about the seed that you sow in the ground.

64. Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower?

65. Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be regretful (or left in wonderment) [Tafsir Ibn Kathîr].

66. (Saying): “We are indeed Mughramûn (i.e. ruined or have lost the money without any profit, or are punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation)! (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî)

67. “Nay, but we are deprived!”

Surah Al- Hajj, Ayahs 19 – 22

Posted in Quran, Quran on February 18, 2011 by Asma

19. These two opponents (believers and disbelievers) dispute with each other about their Lord: then as for those who disbelieved, garments of fire will be cut out for them, boiling water will be poured down over their heads.

20. With it will melt (or vanish away) what is within their bellies, as well as (their) skins.

21. And for them are hooked rods of iron (to punish them).

22. Every time they seek to get away therefrom, from anguish, they will be driven back therein, and (it will be) said to them: “Taste the torment of burning”

Ramblings… Again

Posted in Islam, Muslims, Pakistan on December 29, 2010 by Asma

So all the media channels and their anchor persons have invited rightists and leftists on their forum just to discuss just one question : Kia ye quaid-e-azam ka Pakistan hai? What kind of state did he dream of? Extremist? or Secular?

I am just shocked to see people coming on television saying that Pakistan has nothing to do with Islam and Quaid-e-Azam never wanted a state where religion meddled with the state affairs! Oh! Puhleez! Why then ask for a separate state when they cannot implement the Word of Allah here!

I wont go into the debate but surely would quote Iqbal’s couplet here,

“jalaal-e-paadshahi ho ya jamhooree tamasha ho
judaa ho deen siyaasat se tu reh jaati hai changaizee”

And one more thing… We all think that we are free but are we really… and this reminds me of another couplet of Iqbal,

“mulla ko jo hai hind mein sajday ki ijazat
nadaan ye samajhta hai k islaam hai azaad”

So true, it its Pakistan completely, so even after being free for more than 60 years, we still are not free. Still there are people who think that women shouldn’t wear Burqa because they are a threat to the national security just because of one Bomb Blast! I mean what about the blasts carried out by men? They weren’t wearing Burqas so how can you just think it’s the solution.

The people who think are in power and who think that because they know English and can write in the language, they have all the knowledge, intellect and they are the most sanest beings, present quite stupid arguments! The solution to suicide attacks is not barring women from wearing a veil or men from keeping a beard! The problem lies somewhere else and I wonder why are people so blind to see that and just come up with stupid suggestions as that!

If a family is attacked by a drone, and there is only one survivor, do you think he or she would be thinking of welcoming UN and it’s food program? It’s so easy for UN to come in and say, hey! we have the food, this is the love that we have brought from so far away(not to mention that you have to pay for that stupid aid). Anyway, the point is these people who have lost their loved ones, families, homes via drone attacks are most likely to come under the influence of foreign mafia (Black Water, RAW, Mossad, CIA) and I’m 100 percent sure that they manipulate these locals by abusing and torturing them by killing their families and then using them against the locals so that they can put pressure on the government and destabilize the only Islamic country that has the nuclear weapons!

And who trusts that UN organization that is doing nothing when it comes to Muslim genocide, be it in Gaza, Iraq, Kashmir or Pakistan! And trust me it  has no power over US or Israel or India, or any other country that is involved in the killing of Muslims all over the world! We love UN!

Height of Insensitivity

Posted in Islam, Muslims, Pakistan, politics on June 19, 2010 by Asma

It was the time of the second Caliph of Islam, Hazrat Umar Radiallahu anhu, when the Muslims ruled over a vast region. And that region was way bigger than Pakistan. Hazrat Umar Radiallahu anhu at that time said that even if a dog dies out of hunger near the river Euphrates, I will be accountable for it. Allah will question me about it. This was the height of sense of responsibility that he practiced and not just talked about! And once his wife made a sweet dish for him and he asked her how did you managed it, she said I have been saving little over the months, and from that savings was I able to make it. He said that means that I am getting more than I need from the Bait-ul-maal and cut short his salary because he didn’t want to wrongfully use the money of Bait-ul-maal.

Families today are committing suicides around the country because they are not able to meet ends meet! And the leaders of this country cannot even show any sensitivity towards those people. Qamar Zaman Kaira actually is advising poor people to give away their children to Bait-ul-maal! The President, Prime Minister and other ministers are not willing to give up their own fuzul se expenses and are not even ashamed of illegally gobbling away the poor people’s tax money. They call “corruption” their right! President and Prime ministers have wealth of their own, why don’t they live in their houses, why don’t they pay their own bills, why don’t they face power outages and why the hell do they get all those body guards and million dollars worth bulletproof cars out of our tax money?!  And all they could say to the poor people that give away their kids to Bait-ul-maal?! Not only this but PML-Q’s member was even recorded to have been saying that the cases of committing suicides is Allah’s will as life and death are Allah’s will and we cannot meddle with that! If that’s the case, why do these ministers have body guards and why do they travel in bullet proof cars? Why take such measures when they have soo much faith in Allah that death is haqq and if they are to die because a bullet hit their head, these bullet proof cars will not be able to save them. Why waste our money? If they cannot meddle with the matters of life and death, why even wage a war against terrorism, they shouldn’t bomb and kill people in their own country because Allah will take care of that Himself. Why meddle with it?! This is the height of insensitivity!

And I am wondering why have I referred to Hazrat Umar’s life and his way of running the state affairs when ministers can easily say that during his time, Quran was supreme but now constitution is! Astaghfirullah! And yes maybe we misunderstood her! My foot! Why is it that the CMs of this country are getting 50% more money this year for their own expenses?

This is not just the height of insensitivity, this is crossing the limit!

Rambling Thoughts

Posted in christianity, Hadith, Islam, Muslims, Pakistan, Palestine, U.S. on June 18, 2010 by Asma

Why is US still quiet on the issue of Gaza?! (it’s a rhetorical question by the way)

Isn’t this what has been happening since the rise of Islam. Jews conspiring against Muslims in Madinah al Munawwarah during the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW and still haven’t changed! And we read in Quran that Jews and Christians can never be friends of Muslims, and Subhan Allah they have always proved themselves to be the worst enemies of Islam and Muslims.

Time and again, jews and christians have conspired against Muslims forming alliances and time and again Muslims have fallen in their traps. Muslims have always been fighting amongst themselves and though they have been taught brotherhood, that was the easiest thing they forgot. Muslims were taught to remain steadfast to their religion and to hold fast to Quran and Sunnah and that was and have always been the easiest thing to forget. We have seen through time that whether it was the fall of Baghdad or the end of Muslim rule in Spain, it was all because Muslims became corrupt and stood against one another whereas the Christians and Jews always united under one banner to wipe out Muslims from this world. Muhammad Asad said that it is from the times of first crusades that Europe still has feeling of hatred towards Muslims, it’s embedded in their genes. But I would rather say that it has been there since the birth of Islam, and about jews, since forever. Whatever that is happening in Gaza, it’s not happening for the first time, history is filled with similar events where Jews and Chritians have showered their love on Muslim Ummah!

We don’t have to go far to look at it. Just look at how Muslims were treated in the Subcontinent before partition, how Muslims were treated in Abu Ghraib prison, how Dr. Afia was treated, how they shower white phosphorus on Gaza, how they are killing people with drone attacks and how IMF has forced people to kill themselves. And the funny thing is we have not yet learned a single thing from the past. Our leaders think of themselves only just like the leaders of the Spain before it fell, or Baghdad before Tartars crushed it under their feet.

Today, we see the same situation in Muslim countries, they’d say whatever, but to actually help Muslims, they’d think of hundreds of reasons to back out! And it is only helping Christians and Jews and they treat Muslims like animals. They have united to crush muslims whether they are in Afghanistan, Palestine, Pakistan or wherever in this world, but Muslims are soo asleep that they cannot even unite under one flag! There’s a Hadeeth that a momin is never bitten by the same hole, but I guess we are bitten again and again by the same hole and we still want to keep ourselves buried in the same hole!
